Karnataka Sets 100-Day Target for New Praja Seva Department

The Karnataka government has established a new Praja Seva Department with a 100-day target to complete planned tasks across district and state levels, Public Works Department and District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi said in Belagavi on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Jarkiholi stated that Chief Minister D K Shivakumar would allocate the portfolio to a minister who can spare sufficient time to oversee its functioning. Portfolios that currently have not been allotted to any minister remain with the chief minister.

According to the minister, ten specific tasks spanning both district and state levels have been identified for the newly created department and are scheduled to be finished within the stipulated 100-day period. He noted that an appointment for a dedicated minister to oversee the department would be made soon.

Jarkiholi also addressed the upcoming induction of a woman minister into the state Cabinet, stating that the Congress high command will take a final decision following the conclusion of the ongoing legislature session. Former ministers Laxmi Hebbalkar and Umashree, along with Gayatri, are among the names currently being considered for the post.

Jarkiholi confirmed that he has recommended Laxmi Hebbalkar for the Cabinet role. He added that the Women and Child Welfare portfolio will be allotted to the woman minister once she is formally inducted into the Cabinet, with the portfolio remaining with the chief minister in the interim.
