Karnataka prepares 4.85 crore digital caste certificates for doorstep delivery

The Karnataka Revenue Department is set to launch the doorstep delivery of caste certificates and Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara, who also holds the revenue portfolio, announced the initiative in Bengaluru, revealing that the department has already prepared 4.85 crore digital caste certificates in PDF format to facilitate this distribution.

This major administrative undertaking by the Karnataka Revenue Department is designed to transition the distribution of essential citizen documents into a digital-first model. By preparing these PDF files in advance, the state government aims to ensure that citizens can receive their official caste certificates and PRCs directly at their doorsteps, reducing the need to visit government offices.

According to official details shared by Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara, the 4.85 crore prepared digital certificates cover several key social categories. Among these, a total of 86 lakh PDF certificates have been prepared for individuals belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category 1.

Furthermore, the Karnataka Revenue Department has prepared 1.06 crore digital certificates for categories 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B. The Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities account for the largest portion of the prepared documents, with 2.63 crore digital certificates ready for delivery.

The compilation of these digital PDF files is a key component of the logistics for the upcoming doorstep delivery system. While the exact launch date and operational details for the rollout of the delivery service were not specified in the initial announcement, the preparation of these 4.85 crore files marks the primary administrative milestone in executing the program under the direction of Dr G Parameshwara and the state's revenue department.
