Karnataka Launches Prajaseva Abhiyan for Taluk and Hobli Grievance Redressal

Karnataka Launches Prajaseva Abhiyan for Taluk and Hobli Grievance Redressal

The Karnataka government has launched Prajaseva Abhiyan, an integrated public grievance redressal initiative designed to bring administration closer to citizens and offer time-bound resolutions. Under the initiative, public grievance redressal meetings will be organised every Saturday across the state at taluk headquarters and hobli levels on a rotational schedule.

The administrative setup rotates leadership depending on the week of the month. On the first and third Saturdays, sessions will be held at taluk headquarters under the chairmanship of the respective district in-charge ministers, attended by district-level officials. On the second and fourth Saturdays, local MLAs will chair meetings at the taluk or hobli level, accompanied by taluk-level officials. Former members of zilla panchayats, taluk panchayats, gram panchayats, and urban local bodies, along with local leaders, may also be invited to participate.

To alert the public, the government has arranged the distribution of pamphlets containing application forms and document checklists at least 15 days before each scheduled gathering. Residents will also receive notifications detailing the date, time, venue, and presiding representative via calls made by an artificial intelligence-based call centre. Citizens can submit their applications in advance at Grama One centres or make use of on-site Grama One kiosks equipped with computers, printers, and internet access.

At the venues, grievances will be processed through two separate queues. The first queue is designated for newly registered complaints, while the second handles complaints previously filed under Sakala, Common Service Centres, or the Integrated Public Grievance Redressal System that remain unresolved after 21 days or have received no response. Eligible beneficiaries may receive on-the-spot sanction letters for welfare schemes, though matters involving legal disputes, inter-departmental clearances, or policy decisions will require additional processing time.

Unresolved cases will undergo a weekly three-tier administrative review every Wednesday. The tahsildar and taluk panchayat executive officer will conduct taluk-level reviews from 9 am to 11 am, followed by sub-divisional reviews led by the assistant commissioner from 11 am to 1 pm. The deputy commissioner will oversee district-level reviews from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Matters that exceed the prescribed disposal period will be automatically escalated to the heads of the concerned departments. District in-charge secretaries will track pending cases, while the Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister are slated to review overall progress. Grievances can also be lodged directly by calling 1902 or through the IPGRS portal, where citizens can track real-time application updates.
