Karnataka Health Officials Shut Down Biohacking Peptide Party in Koramangala

An invite-only biohacking event scheduled for August 29 in Koramangala was cancelled after officials from the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration stepped in and shut down the gathering.

The private event, advertised exclusively online as a "peptide party," had promised attendees standard party features such as music and networking alongside "peptide tasting." The proposal to offer peptide tasting at a social function immediately triggered pushback from the medical community, leading State health regulators to intervene and halt the event.

Peptides are the fundamental building blocks of proteins, composed of shorter chains of amino acids. While proteins are typically long, complex chains of 50 or more amino acids, peptides are smaller structures containing anywhere from two to 50 amino acids.

In biological systems, peptides act as signalling molecules that provide instructions to cells. They serve as the starting point for critical bodily mechanisms, including metabolic regulation, tissue repair, hormone production, and immune system response.
