Karnataka Govt to Host Study Abroad Expo at Bengaluru's Palace Grounds on September 6

The Karnataka government is organising the Study Abroad Expo 2026 at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on September 6 to provide a platform for students seeking higher education opportunities overseas. Around 75 global universities are scheduled to participate in the event under one roof.

Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Sharan Prakash Patil announced the initiative during a press conference on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The event aims to connect local aspirants directly with international higher education institutions.

According to the Minister, as many as 60 universities from countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Ireland, Finland, and Italy have already come forward to take part in the expo. Additional universities are expected to complete their registration in the coming days.

Students interested in attending the event can complete their registration online through the official portal, studyabroad.ksdckarnataka.com. The organisers will also offer on-spot offline registration at the venue on the day of the expo.

During the briefing, Minister Patil also announced that the State government plans to organise a conclave bringing together Education Ministers and department officials from other States. He noted that the Karnataka Assembly and Legislative Council had previously passed resolutions urging the Central government to scrap the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and permit the State to use the Common Entrance Test (CET) for medical admissions.

Patil stated that because there had been no response from the Centre regarding the resolutions, the upcoming conclave would be convened to deliberate on the matter. Following the meeting, the State plans to submit recommendations to the Central government and explore potential alternatives to the NEET examination.
