Karnataka FSDA Raids Bengaluru Eateries, Hotels, and Quick-Commerce Hubs

The Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) conducted extensive food safety inspections across Bengaluru, uncovering widespread violations in establishments ranging from street stalls to luxury hotels.
Inspectors audited a wide variety of food operators across the city over several days. The sweep covered roadside eateries, smaller food businesses, three-star and five-star hotels, international fast-food chains, government canteens, Indira Canteens, and warehouses supplying quick-commerce platforms.
The enforcement drive revealed numerous hygiene and safety breaches across diverse price points and establishment types. FSDA officials found instances of expired food items, rotten meat, and spoiled vegetables being kept on premises.
Authorities also documented issues related to mislabelling, substandard storage conditions, and poor hygiene practices during the inspections. In addition, officials flagged significant concerns regarding the quality and repeated use of cooking oil across inspected kitchens.
The findings have challenged public assumptions that higher-priced meals, prominent brand names, or well-known hotels consistently adhere to better food safety and hygiene standards than smaller, informal eateries.
