Karnataka CET Toppers Opt for Pure Sciences and Medicine Over Traditional Tech

Following the announcement of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) results, top rank holders in Bengaluru, including students from Mahalakshmi Puram, are charting diverse career paths that extend well beyond the conventional rush towards computer science. With counselling scheduled to begin on June 10, these high-achieving students are setting their sights on pure sciences, medicine, and electrical engineering.
The state's top performers shared their academic journeys and future aspirations as they prepare for the next step. Option entry for the upcoming counselling process will be allowed for four days starting June 10.
Tanisha Karthik from RV PU College, who secured the first rank in the Engineering stream, stated that her dream has always been to study at the RV College of Engineering. Having worked towards the CET for two years, she plans to pursue computer engineering.
Srajan BS, a student from Deeksha in Mahalakshmi Puram who secured the second rank in Engineering, expressed an early interest in mechanics and electronics. He plans to pursue electrical engineering at either IIT Indore or IIT Hyderabad. He attributed his success to rigorous consistency, noting that he studied for at least three hours a day, even during summer vacations, since the ninth grade.
Reflecting a shift towards research, Ninaad Vasisht from RV PU College (BASE) secured Engineering Rank 3 and Agriculture Rank 1. Vasisht stated his main focus is pure science, specifically chemistry, which he believes needs more support in the country. He aims to join either the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) or the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) to pursue research or teaching.
Other toppers are focusing on medical fields. Rithvik Kumar, also from RV PU College, secured the third rank in Nursing. He has been preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) with plans to pursue an MBBS and eventually specialise in cardiology.
Similarly, Anmol Prabhu from Arjuna Science PU College in Dharwad, who secured the second rank in Agricultural Science, aspires to become a neurosurgeon. Prabhu, whose parents are both doctors, aims to contribute to society through medical research and hopes to work with the World Health Organization.
