Kannada crime drama Mango Pachcha marks debut of actor Sanchith Sanjeev

The Kannada crime drama film Mango Pachcha, which marked the big-screen debut of actor Sanchith Sanjeev, has garnered attention for its emotional depth and nostalgic portrayal of the 2000s, with a storyline that links its central illicit trade to Bengaluru networks. Directed by Sanchith Sanjeev and Viveka Prakash, the film was released on January 15, 2026, and has received a 3.0 rating from critics.
The film follows Prashanth, also known as Pachcha, played by Sanchith Sanjeev, who runs a CD rental shop in Mysore. Pachcha lives a simple life alongside his girlfriend Suji, played by Kaajal Kunder, his mother Padma, played by Harini, and his brother Shyama, played by Jai Gopinath.
The narrative shifts following the death of Pachcha’s father, which introduces his father’s first family. This includes his legal son Nagappa, played by Mayur Patel, and Nagappa's wife, played by Hamsa Prathap. Pachcha is gradually drawn into the family's secret marijuana business, which is operated behind their vast marigold farms.
With mediation from Mysore Corporation Mayor Mahendra, Pachcha begins building a network of local boys to expand the drug trade. The film portrays the evolution of this illicit market as it transitions from marijuana to harder substances like Cochin tablets and LSD, which enter the city through distribution networks in Bengaluru.
Critics noted that while the film utilizes familiar crime-drama tropes, it distinguishes itself through mature emotional writing. The relationship between the half-brothers Pachcha and Nagappa is depicted with balance, and the character of Suji is portrayed with grounded strength.
The production also highlights the era of the 2000s by incorporating nostalgic elements. Viewers are presented with details of the period, including BPL televisions, Maruti Zen cars, Softy ice cream machines, early mobile phones, and the culture of CD rental shops during an era when movie piracy was common.
Sanchith Sanjeev, who is the nephew of prominent Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep, co-directed the film and took on the leading role. His performance was praised for bringing a strong screen presence to the character, supported by Mayur Patel's performance as Nagappa.
