JDS Workers Detained During Protest Near KPCC Office on Queens Road

Janata Dal (Secular) workers were detained by police on Queens Road in Bengaluru on Tuesday after attempting to lay siege to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office. The demonstrators were demanding the resignation of Priyank Kharge over alleged irregularities in the recruitment of assistant executive engineer (Grade-I) posts.

The protest was led by Greater Bengaluru JDS president HM Ramesh Gowda, alongside former MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy. Hundreds of party workers and leaders joined the demonstration and marched toward the state Congress headquarters.

To prevent the protesters from reaching the KPCC premises, police deployed barricades along the route. The move triggered heated arguments between security personnel and JDS members as demonstrators attempted to push through the barricades.

Tension mounted in the area as the face-off continued, prompting police to detain several leaders and workers at the spot to bring the situation under control.

JDS members condemned the state government for trying to suppress their demonstration. Speaking to the media during the protest, Ramesh Gowda alleged that irregularities had occurred in Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment and accused the government of backing them.
