JD(S) Leader Gottigere Manju Arrested for Assaulting Traffic Cop in Bengaluru

The Hulimavu police on August 17 arrested JD(S) State general secretary Gottigere Manju in connection with an alleged assault on an on-duty traffic police personnel near Gottigere in Bengaluru.

According to the police, the incident occurred while traffic personnel were conducting vehicle checks in the area. When officers stopped Manju’s vehicle, he allegedly confronted the personnel and questioned how they could stop his vehicle, leading to a heated argument.

During the altercation, Manju is accused of grabbing traffic police personnel Arun Manjappa by the collar and assaulting him. The scuffle was eventually brought under control after bystanders on the scene intervened and separated the two. A video purportedly showing the incident has also surfaced on social media.

Following the incident, Manjappa lodged a formal complaint at the Hulimavu police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against Manju on the charge of assaulting a public servant on duty.

Police subsequently tracked Manju's location and traced him to a private hotel, where he was placed under arrest.
