JD(S) Leader Arrested for Assaulting Traffic Cop in Bengaluru

A Janata Dal (Secular) leader was arrested late Sunday night after allegedly assaulting an on-duty traffic police officer during a routine vehicle check in Bengaluru.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Hulimavu Police Station, where traffic police officer Arun was engaged in regular traffic management duties. According to police, the altercation began after the officer signalled a vehicle driven by JD(S) state general secretary Manju to stop.
Following the stop, Manju allegedly questioned the officer about why his vehicle had been pulled over. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence, with the political leader allegedly grabbing Arun by his uniform collar in full view of the public.
Police officials stated that Manju also raised his leg and attempted to kick the traffic officer during the scuffle. The confrontation caught the attention of passersby and commuters in the area, who intervened to de-escalate the situation and prevent further assault.
Following the incident, police personnel took Manju into custody late on Sunday night. He was brought to the police station, where investigators are currently questioning him regarding the assault on a public servant.
Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
