Indiranagar Police Arrest Man for Abetment to Suicide of Married Woman

The Indiranagar police have arrested a man for allegedly harassing a 21-year-old married woman, who died by suicide at her residence in Lakshmipuram on August 6. The accused has been identified by the police as Kiran.

According to investigators, the deceased woman, identified as Kavitha, was a homemaker. She had married a man named Raju in 2024, and the couple has a one-and-a-half-year-old child. Police stated that Kiran and Kavitha were distant relatives and had reportedly been in a relationship for three years prior to her marriage.

Investigations revealed that following her marriage, Kiran allegedly continued to contact Kavitha and pressured her to remain in touch with him. He allegedly sent her repeated messages threatening to end his own life if she stopped speaking with him, while also issuing threats to ruin her life.

Kavitha's family members had previously intervened and warned Kiran to keep away from her. However, the accused allegedly ignored the warnings and continued to contact and harass the young woman.

Police suspect that Kavitha fell into severe distress after her husband and other family members learned about the ongoing harassment. On August 6, she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence.

Following the incident, the Indiranagar police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused and took Kiran into custody.
