IIM Bangalore to establish first international campus in Indonesia

Bengaluru's premier management institute, IIM Bangalore, is set to establish its first international campus in Indonesia. The milestone announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Jakarta on Monday.

The proposed campus will be established in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone. This development marks a major international expansion for the Bengaluru-based business school, bringing its academic expertise to the ASEAN region.

According to the institute, the new campus is expected to cater to a wide range of students and professionals. It will serve individuals from Indonesia as well as the broader ASEAN region who are seeking advanced management education.

The academic rollout will follow a phased approach under the India-Indonesia agreement. IIM Bangalore will initially offer executive education programmes. In the subsequent phase, the institute will introduce full-fledged degree courses for its students.

The curriculum at the Indonesian campus will be tailored to modern industry needs. The institute stated that the management education programs will focus heavily on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, and global supply chains.

Beyond classroom instruction, the new campus is intended to foster deeper regional integration. The initiative aims to strengthen academic collaborations, enhance research partnerships, and facilitate student exchanges across the ASEAN region.
