IIHM Launches India's First Egg Bank in Bengaluru to Aid Children in Need

The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) has launched its first Egg Bank in India in Bengaluru, aimed at providing sustained nutritional support to children in dire need of assistance.

As part of the inaugural rollout, Sri Rakum School for the Blind was selected as the first institution to benefit from the project. Student volunteers from IIHM, designated as food soldiers, visited the school and distributed 700 eggs to the visually impaired children residing and studying there.

The project is designed as a student-led corporate social responsibility initiative and is being carried out in association with the Valmiki Foundation. Organisers plan to use the network to channel high-protein nutritional supplies regularly to vulnerable sections of society.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Suborno Bose, founder and chairman of IIHM, stated that the institution will progressively expand the egg bank programme across Bengaluru. Future distributions will target old-age homes, orphanages, and other local care centres serving underprivileged communities throughout the city.

Dr. Bose also noted that the programme will subsequently be implemented across all other IIHM campuses in India. Under the nationwide expansion plan, each campus will identify beneficiary welfare institutions in its respective vicinity to replicate the nutritional outreach model.
