Hebbagodi Police Arrest Security Guard in Jigani for Alleged Terror Links

The Hebbagodi police in Bengaluru have arrested a 23-year-old security guard from Jigani for allegedly planning to undergo terrorist training and target the Pakistan army after contacting a suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) member in Afghanistan.

The accused, identified as Asaful Mallick, is a native of the North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. He had been working as a security guard at a company in the Jigani Industrial Area since December 2025 and was residing near APC Circle in Jigani.

According to the police, the First Information Report (FIR) was registered following a complaint lodged by Hebbagodi police Sub-Inspector Srikanth Naykar, who received intelligence from an informant regarding Mallick's activities. The informant reported that Mallick was planning to receive training for terrorist acts against the Pakistan Army in retaliation for alleged atrocities committed against Muslims in Pakistan.

Following the tip-off, police tracked the suspect to an under-construction building near Jigani, where he was detained and brought to the police station for interrogation.

During questioning, Mallick allegedly revealed that he was angry with the Pakistan Army over alleged atrocities against mosques and citizens in Pakistan, as well as Pakistan's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Investigators stated that he befriended an Afghan national named Imran Haider on social media, whom the FIR identifies as a member of the TTP.

Police said Mallick sought Haider's assistance to join the militant outfit and travel to Afghanistan for military training. While he had applied for a visa to travel to Afghanistan, he later abandoned the travel plan due to financial constraints and family responsibilities.

A forensic examination of Mallick's mobile phone allegedly uncovered social media chat records with Haider, along with several voice calls and audio recordings. The police stated that the discussions centered on carrying out terrorist activities against the Pakistan Army.

Hebbagodi police have booked Mallick under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the investigation continues.
