Haveri Officials Deny Voter Registration Was Conducted From Bankapura Mosque

On Saturday, Haveri District Deputy Commissioner Vijaymahantesh Danammanavar dismissed allegations that official Special Summary Revision (SIR) voter enumeration work was being conducted from a mosque at Bankapura in Shiggaon taluk.
The clarification followed the spread of viral photos and videos on social media showing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) purportedly filling up enumeration forms inside the office of the mosque.
Following reports of the activity, Deputy Commissioner Danammanavar visited the mosque in Bankapura to inspect the spot and gather information from local officials.
Officials informed the Deputy Commissioner that the BLO had developed severe leg pain after conducting her door-to-door visits for the voter registration drive. She had stopped to rest inside the mosque office, during which time some local voters approached her and requested assistance in filling out their forms.
Officials clarified that the BLO did not issue any official forms from the mosque office itself. The assistance was provided to voters who came to her while she was resting, and no official voter registration desk was established at the religious venue.
The incident occurred during the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) in Karnataka. The Chief Electoral Officer has directed BLOs to conduct door-to-door enumeration, a directive that comes amid claims of "mass enrolment" raised by the opposition.
