Government Will Address Civic Workers' Demands, Says Krishna Byre Gowda

Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda assured civic workers on Friday that their grievances and demands would be brought to the attention of the chief minister, stating that the state government will take steps to respond positively to their concerns.

The minister made the statement while addressing attendees at the Dr BR Ambedkar and Civic Workers' Day programme organised by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). The event was held at the GBA central office in Bengaluru, where Byre Gowda paid floral tributes and garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Speaking at the gathering, Byre Gowda noted that the Greater Bengaluru Authority and the five city corporations were jointly observing Ambedkar Jayanti and Civic Workers' Day together this year.

During his address, Byre Gowda emphasised the need for social cohesion, stating that society must reject attempts to divide people in the name of caste and religion and instead uphold the core principle that all human beings are equal.

He recalled that notable leaders and thinkers, including Basavanna, Mahatma Gandhi, and Kuvempu, had championed the values of equality and humanism throughout history.

Reflecting on current social conditions, the minister observed that complete equality in society has still not been achieved. He stated that merely garlanding Ambedkar’s statue and raising slogans in his name does not constitute honouring him unless individuals actively practice equality in their own daily lives.
