GBA Directs Railways to Clear Waste Along Tracks Across Bengaluru

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao instructed railway officials on Tuesday to effectively clean areas along railway tracks and ensure continuous maintenance across several city stretches, including Yelahanka, Allalasandra, Jakkur, and Kasturinagar.

The directive came during an inspection of ongoing cleanliness works on railway properties as part of the city-wide 'Freedom from Waste' campaign. During his visit, Rao instructed railway authorities to install fencing along railway tracks to prevent dumping and secure the corridors.

While inspecting Ballari Road, the Chief Commissioner noticed construction debris dumped beside the railway track near the Yelahanka Railway Underpass and ordered officials to immediately clear the site. Along the railway track from Allalasandra on Ballari Road, Rao directed officials to collaborate with non-governmental organisations to clean and beautify the surroundings to make the stretch more attractive.

Rao also observed that maintenance had been neglected along the railway alternative road extending from the Jakkur side towards Srirampura. He directed railway officials to coordinate directly with the Railways and K-RIDE departments to clear overgrown bushes and dense vegetation along that route.

Additionally, the Chief Commissioner instructed authorities to clear accumulated waste along the railway tracks situated beneath the Kasturinagar Flyover.
