GBA Chief Orders Fresh Timeline to Complete Okalipuram Corridor Project

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to prepare a revised schedule for completing pending works on the Okalipuram Eight-Lane Corridor in Gandhinagar.

During an inspection on Thursday of ongoing and pending works falling under the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Rao stressed that all remaining tasks must be taken up and completed within the stipulated timeline as per the revised plan. He noted that the construction of the approach road connecting to the railway station is currently under progress.

“Expedite the retaining wall works and complete all work within the stipulated timeline as per the revised schedule,” Rao directed the officials on site.

The commissioner specifically instructed officials to undertake a complete cleaning of the box structure located beneath the railway tracks connecting Majestic towards Rajajinagar. He asked them to carry out all necessary work to facilitate vehicular movement through the passage.

Taking note of waste water leakage beneath the railway box, Rao directed civic officials to coordinate with railway authorities to prevent further leakage. He also instructed the team to pump out and clear water that has accumulated across the construction site.

Rao stated that the Railways has completed two box-pushing works beneath the Chennai railway line. He added that instructions have been issued to expedite the construction of the retaining wall.

Around 300 loads of waste, including construction debris and soil, have already been cleared from the route where the boxes have been installed. Officials also informed the commissioner that the construction of a 1,200mm-diameter drain to facilitate the smooth flow of rainwater is currently 65 per cent complete, and assured that the remaining work would be finished on priority.
