Four Arrested on UP-Nepal Border for Rs 1 Crore Kattigenahalli House Theft

The Yelahanka police, with assistance from paramilitary forces, have arrested four men on the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border in connection with a major burglary at a house on PG Street in Kattigenahalli, Bengaluru.

The incident occurred on August 15 when 62-year-old GE Chandramouli, a retired multinational company employee, and his family members left their residence to attend a function in Chitradurga. When the family returned home the following day, they discovered that gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 1 crore had been stolen.

According to the police, the accused broke open the terrace door to gain entry into the house after the family departed. The thieves fled with approximately 1.06 kilograms of gold ornaments. Following the arrests on August 20, investigators managed to recover gold ornaments worth about Rs 55 lakh.

The four arrested individuals have been identified as N Deepak Shahi, 21, D Abhishek Tatal, 25, M Anbare Dami, 66, and P Dheerendra Prema Pariyar, 25. All four men are natives of Nepal and had been working in the city as security guards. They have since been brought back to Bengaluru.

Investigators stated that another key accused, Sanjay Bharath Thathal, worked at Chandramouli's residence and lived in the servants' quarters on the premises with his wife and children. Following the burglary, Sanjay and his family members fled and went missing. A police officer noted that Sanjay had previously been arrested in 2021 by the KG Halli police for a similar offence.

A search operation is currently underway to track down and apprehend Sanjay.
