Five-Year-Old Girl Killed After Being Run Over by School Van in Dasanapura

A five-year-old girl was run over and tragically killed by a school van near the Dasanapura underpass, which falls under the Chikkabanavara traffic police limits in Bengaluru, on Wednesday evening. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 4:15 pm when the victim, identified as Tanisha, came close to the vehicle and was crushed under its front left wheel after the driver allegedly moved the van forward.
Tanisha was the second daughter of Kishor and Madhusmitha. The family, originally hailing from the Tumakuru district, are currently residing in the Dasanapura area of Bengaluru.
According to the police, the accident transpired when Tanisha’s mother went out of their home to pick up her elder daughter, Hanika, who was returning from school in the van. The school van had stopped near their house to drop off the elder sister. While Hanika was in the process of getting down from the vehicle, Tanisha walked close to the front of the van. The driver then allegedly moved the vehicle forward, resulting in Tanisha being run over by the front left wheel.
Tanisha’s mother immediately rushed her to the Nelamangala Government Hospital in a bid to save her life. However, the medical doctors at the hospital declared the five-year-old dead upon arrival, stating that she had succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the accident.
According to the police complaint, the school van involved in the incident bears the registration number KA-52 C-7573. The vehicle belongs to the Kids International School, which is located in Nelamangala. The complaint alleges that the driver was operating the school vehicle in a highly rash and negligent manner at the time of the fatal accident.
Immediately after the collision occurred, the unidentified driver reportedly abandoned the school van at the scene and fled the spot to evade arrest. The Chikkabanavara traffic police have registered a case regarding the incident and have launched an active search to track down and arrest the fleeing driver.
