Five Schoolgirls Injured After Falling From Moving School Van In KR Puram

Five schoolgirls sustained minor injuries after they tumbled out of the rear door of a moving school van in Gayathri Layout, KR Puram, Bengaluru, on Thursday. The entire incident, which was captured on a roadside CCTV camera, occurred while the vehicle was navigating a narrow lane in the locality.
Fortunately, there were no other vehicles moving directly behind the school van at the time of the incident, which prevented a potentially more serious mishap on the road. Because the van was moving at a relatively slow speed through the narrow lane, the impact of the fall was limited, saving the children from suffering severe injuries.
Immediately after the five girls fell onto the road, local passersby and eyewitnesses who were in the area rushed to the scene to render assistance to the children. The students were able to get back on their feet shortly after the fall and walked back towards the school van, which had been brought to a halt by the driver.
The jurisdictional traffic police have initiated an investigation into the matter to determine the exact cause of the accident. At present, the precise reason behind the rear door of the van opening while the vehicle was in motion remains unclear. However, police officers are not ruling out the possibility that one of the schoolgirls inside may have accidentally opened the door.
In addition to investigating the door mechanism, the traffic police are verifying whether the school van was carrying more students than the legally permitted limit at the time of the accident. After examining the roadside CCTV footage of the incident, the police summoned both the driver of the van and the vehicle's owner for formal questioning regarding the safety lapse. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities continue to question those involved.
