Five Brookfield Creche Workers Charged With Cruelty to Toddlers at Capgemini Campus

The Bengaluru city police have registered a criminal case against five daycare caregivers at an on-campus creche inside the Brookfield campus of Capgemini Technology Services India Limited, following allegations of severe child abuse, physical assault, and cruelty against employees' toddlers. The FIR was registered on June 29 at the HAL police station, which falls under the Whitefield division, after the incident came to light on June 25.
The criminal case was initiated following a complaint by Tilakesh Kumar, a legal-cum-probation officer with the district child protection unit. The FIR names the five accused caregivers as Manjula, Vijayalakshmi, Bhavani, Sindhu, and Bindu. They face charges of criminal intimidation and cruelty to children.
According to the complaint, Kumar received videos via WhatsApp showing children crying and being subjected to acts of abuse. The five caregivers, who were entrusted with the care and supervision of the toddlers, allegedly subjected them to physical assault and mental harassment.
The complaint states that the accused locked crying children inside washing machines to frighten them. They also allegedly forced the toddlers into narrow pipes filled with water and left them there, stuffed them into bathroom spaces, and physically intimidated them in various other ways.
The toddlers belonged to professionals working at the campus who left their children at the facility while on duty. A police officer noted that parents and officials were horrified to see the manner in which the care staff handled the toddlers.
Saidulu Adavath, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield Division), confirmed that the police have registered the case and initiated an investigation. Adavath stated that notices will be served to the individuals responsible, and they will be summoned for interrogation.
When contacted for a statement regarding the alleged security failure and the caregivers' conduct, a Capgemini spokesperson said the company would review the query and issue an official response.
