FIR Registered in Vidyaranyapura Over Unauthorised Posters of Minister

The Vidyaranyapura police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a man for allegedly pasting unauthorised posters featuring Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda across public walls and roads in Vidyaranyapura.

The action was initiated following an official complaint lodged by Govindappa Bajanthri, 53, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) attached to the Vidyaranyapura Sub-Divisional Office.

Civic officials identified the unauthorised posters during a routine inspection conducted in Ward 10 of Vidyaranyapura between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday. In the complaint, the civic official noted that such unauthorised displays disfigure public spaces and require corporation personnel to carry out dedicated removal operations.

Following the complaint, the Vidyaranyapura police booked the accused, identified as Shivakumar, under Sections 3 and 6 of the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981.

Minister Krishna Byre Gowda confirmed the development, noting that police registered the case under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act after posters carrying his image were found displayed in public without obtaining requisite permissions.

In a related enforcement action, the Kodigehalli police registered another FIR against Shivakumar and others for allegedly putting up unauthorised advertising structures at the Railway Underpass in Sahakara Nagar without official clearance. That complaint was submitted by Varun, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Jakkur Sub-Division, after the illegal structures were discovered during an inspection on August 14.
