FDA Busts Illegal Pharma Repacking Unit in Bidadi, Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 4.91 Crore

The Karnataka Food Safety and Drugs Administration’s Drug Enforcement Wing uncovered an unlicensed pharmaceutical repacking and relabelling operation at a farmhouse in Kurubarakeranahalli in Bidadi, Bengaluru South, seizing medicines and equipment valued at an estimated Rs 4.91 crore.
Acting on a tip-off on August 18, FDA officials inspected the facility and exposed the illegal setup. According to the FDA, the operators procured lower-cost medicines from other states, filled them into new vials, and relabelled them to resemble expensive multinational and imported brands.
During the search, enforcement officials seized several batches of relabelled injections. The seized stock included 5,640 vials of CEFIAVIGENT 2.5 Injection worth Rs 3.38 crore, 1,531 vials of HIZLAM Injectables worth Rs 52.24 lakh, and 264 vials of EMBLAVEO labelled as Pfizer valued at Rs 20.59 lakh, along with other injectable drugs.
In addition to the medicines, FDA officials seized 30 boxes of expired drugs, forged labels, packaging materials, and injection-filling machinery used to repackage the pharmaceutical products at the farmhouse.
