Family Alleges Foul Play After 12-Year-Old Student Dies At Kadayarappanahalli School

A 12-year-old student died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning after collapsing at a residential school in Kadayarappanahalli, located in Bengaluru North taluk.
The death of the student, identified as Gurukiran, has triggered protests by his family, who alleged that teachers assaulted him before his death and tampered with the school's security footage.
Gurukiran, a Class 6 student and the son of Raghavendra from Subedarpalya, allegedly collapsed while jogging on the school campus early Wednesday morning. According to school authorities, they informed his parents around 6 a.m. that the boy had fallen ill and had been taken to a hospital. By the time the family reached the healthcare facility, Gurukiran had passed away.
The Bagalur police have registered a case and initiated an investigation after receiving a formal complaint from Gurukiran's family. A senior police officer stated that the boy had completed two rounds of jogging and collapsed during his third round. The police have shifted the body for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased student's family has alleged foul play, claiming that teachers assaulted Gurukiran using sticks and iron rods. According to the family, another student in the hostel informed them that the boy had been beaten.
Raghavendra and other relatives expressed suspicion after finding that the school's CCTV cameras were damaged. A relative of the boy told reporters that when they checked the security setup, they found the cameras had been removed and the wires had been cut, leaving no footage available of the incident.
The incident led to escalating tensions on the school campus. Angry relatives confronted and allegedly assaulted the school's warden. The situation was brought under control after the Bagalur police intervened to disperse the protesters. Officers stated that further legal action would be taken based on the upcoming post-mortem report and other evidence collected during the ongoing investigation.
