Electronic City Elevated Corridor Vehicle Restrictions to Start September 11

The Bengaluru Traffic Police will restrict the movement of specified categories of vehicles on the Electronic City Elevated Corridor starting September 11. The measure is part of a broader traffic regulation covering six major flyovers and elevated corridors across the city aimed at improving road safety, easing vehicular congestion, and reducing the severity of accidents.

According to traffic police, the decision to implement these curbs was made following a comprehensive review of road accidents linked directly to variations in vehicle speeds on flyovers. While restrictions on four other flyovers take effect earlier on September 4, the rules for the Electronic City Elevated Corridor will be enforced from September 11.

Under the new regulations for the Electronic City Elevated Corridor, all categories of goods vehicles—encompassing heavy, medium, and light goods vehicles—will be barred from operating between 6 am and 10 pm. Additionally, two-wheelers, passenger auto rickshaws, and three-wheeler goods auto rickshaws will not be permitted on the corridor at any time of the day or night.

Similar vehicular bans and curbs are being introduced across other key elevated routes in Bengaluru. On the Double-Decker Flyover connecting Silk Board and Ragigudda, two-wheelers and heavy goods vehicles will be completely prohibited 24 hours a day.

Along the International Airport Road Elevated Corridor between Sanjeevnagar Cross and Vidyashilp Junction, auto rickshaws will face a round-the-clock ban, while all categories of goods vehicles will be restricted between 6 am and 10 pm.

Elsewhere in the city, the BGS Flyover on Mysuru Road will see a round-the-clock ban on heavy goods vehicles, while other goods vehicles, including three-wheeler goods auto rickshaws, will be barred during peak windows from 7 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 10 pm. On the Peenya Elevated Corridor, passenger auto rickshaws and three-wheeler goods auto rickshaws will be banned continuously, with heavy and medium goods vehicles restricted during morning and evening peak hours.
