Eight Detained After Clash During Eid Milad Procession in Basavanagudi

Tension prevailed on KR Road in Basavanagudi after a clash broke out between two groups during an Eid Milad procession on Wednesday evening, leaving one person severely injured.
Police have secured eight people in connection with the violence. According to investigators, the procession was passing through KR Road around 4 p.m. near the 2nd Main Road, where the office of right-wing activist Puneeth Kerehalli is located. An altercation allegedly erupted between the two groups over slogans raised during the event.
A man identified as Murali sustained severe head injuries during the clash. He was immediately shifted to Victoria Hospital for medical treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) K Vamshikrishna stated that the police were alerted to the clash shortly after 4 p.m.
Senior police officers and personnel rushed to the location to bring the situation under control. The police noted that officers were present in the area and have since initiated an investigation, which includes reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding stretch to establish the exact sequence of events.
