Eight BMTC Employees Suspended Over Spare Parts Procurement Lapses

Eight employees of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have been suspended in Bengaluru following allegations of lapses in the procurement of spare parts for state-run buses.

Transport Minister BS Suresh shared details of the disciplinary action in the Karnataka Legislative Council during Question Hour. He was responding to queries raised by Congress MLC Govindaraju regarding the alleged irregularities.

According to the minister, a five-member high-level committee was constituted to conduct an inquiry into the procurement process. The committee has already submitted its preliminary findings, on the basis of which disciplinary action was initiated against the eight employees for alleged dereliction of duty.

The inquiry panel includes Security Vigilance Officer Parimala L Nayak, along with members CK Ramya, Mabeen Taj, Anand Prasad, and N Anand. The team has been tasked with identifying procedural lapses and conducting a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities within the corporation's spare parts purchasing operations.

Minister Suresh stated that the committee is scheduled to submit its final report to the Karnataka state government by the end of October. He added that the government will review the final report before determining further action against those involved.
