Drunken cab driver carries man on bonnet for 1 km in Chowdeshwari Nagar

A drunken cab driver drove for nearly one kilometre with a motorist riding on his car's bonnet following a trivial argument in Chowdeshwari Nagar, located within the Rajajinagar Traffic Police limits in Bengaluru, on Friday night. The cab driver also ran over and killed a dog during the incident before the vehicle was finally brought to a stop.

According to the Rajajinagar Traffic Police, both the cab driver, identified as Manjunatha, and the motorist, named Ananth, were under the influence of alcohol when a dispute broke out between them near a local bar. As the heated argument escalated, Ananth called his friend to come to the spot for support.

When Ananth’s friend arrived, Manjunatha feared that the situation would escalate further and attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle. In an effort to prevent the driver from escaping, Ananth stood directly in front of the car and climbed onto its bonnet.

Manjunatha continued driving despite Ananth being on the bonnet, travelling for nearly one kilometre through the area. During the drive, the vehicle ran over a dog, killing it on the spot.

The car was eventually stopped after Ananth’s friend managed to catch up with the vehicle and confronted Manjunatha.

Police officials stated that Ananth chose not to lodge an official complaint against the cab driver, stating that he wanted to compromise. Because the victim declined to file a formal complaint, the traffic police issued a fine against Manjunatha for reckless driving.
