DK Shivakumar Orders Verification of Karnataka Guarantee Scheme Beneficiaries

BENGALURU — Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has ordered a statewide review and verification of beneficiaries under the government's flagship guarantee programmes, while clarifying that there will be no rollback of the welfare schemes.

The directive was issued during Shivakumar's first meeting with senior officials after assuming office, which took place at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The review is aimed at identifying and weeding out ineligible recipients from the government's flagship welfare programmes. According to Shivakumar, the administration decided to initiate the verification process after receiving complaints regarding the misuse of these benefits.

During the meeting, Shivakumar specifically noted that complaints of misuse had been received regarding the flagship programmes, pointing out issues particularly under the Gruha Jyothi and Gruha schemes.

Despite the upcoming verification process, the Chief Minister reassured the public that the government has no intention of rolling back the welfare guarantees, emphasizing that the programmes will continue for eligible beneficiaries.
