DK Shivakumar Launches Kanakapura Yatra, Proposes 3A Mantra for Progress

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar kicked off his Janashirvada yatra in Kanakapura on Sunday, advocating for social harmony and proposing his "3A" mantra to drive development in his constituency. During his visit to about a dozen villages in and around the region, Shivakumar appealed to residents to maintain peace and instructed local police officers not to register frivolous cases.

The Chief Minister outlined his "3A" priority list for the region, which stands for Ashraya (shelter), Arogya (health), and Akshara (education). As part of this developmental focus, Shivakumar announced that corporate social responsibility (CSR) schools will be established in one out of every three taluks. He emphasized that his goal is to foster social harmony and drive development within the Kanakapura constituency.

Addressing the gathering during his first major rally in his home district since assuming the Chief Minister's office, Shivakumar made a soft pitch for the 2028 elections. He asked the assembled crowd whether they preferred a two-year Chief Minister or one who serves a full term, while seeking their continued support for the Congress party to ensure victory in 2028. He noted that the real power rests with the voters, who previously ensured the state received five guarantees promised in the 2023 Congress election manifesto.

During his visits to local deities and various pitstops, Shivakumar also warned residents about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of the voter rolls conducted by the Election Commission. He advised voters to ensure their names remain registered locally to continue receiving benefits from state welfare schemes such as Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, and Anna Bhagya.

On economic matters, the Chief Minister highlighted the rise in local land values, claiming that prices had quadrupled since Ramanagara was renamed in a brand-upgrade exercise. He urged local farmers not to sell their agricultural properties to buyers from Bengaluru, advising them to stay focused on agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture. He noted that their agricultural activities could earn them as much as jobs in the city, pointing out that local dairy activities contribute significantly to Bamul, a district milk cooperative.

Additionally, Shivakumar advised local youth against forming workers' unions. He instead encouraged them to upskill and seek employment opportunities in the nearby industrial township of Harohalli. He also reminded the public that former BJP Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had shifted a government hospital from their region to Chikkaballapur.
