DIG-Led Team to Probe Mobile Phone Found in Prajwal Revanna's Prison Cell

The Karnataka Police Department has formed a special team headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)-rank officer to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged recovery of a mobile phone from the prison cell of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.

Director General of Police (Prisons) Alok Kumar confirmed the establishment of the special inquiry team, which will be headed by DIG Prisons and Reforms Jinendra Khanagavi.

The special team has been assigned to determine how the mobile phone entered the prison and reached the cell of Revanna, who is currently serving a life sentence in connection with a rape case.

Investigators will also look into who allegedly provided the mobile device to the former lawmaker and establish the duration for which he had access to the phone inside the facility.

Revanna, a former Member of Parliament representing the JD(S), is the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and the nephew of Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
