D.K. Shivakumar Meets Party Legislators to Discuss Development and Governance

A day after the Monsoon Session of the Karnataka legislature concluded, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar held discussions with party legislators in Bengaluru on Tuesday to review governance and constituency development.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought details from legislators representing 27 districts regarding priority issues and pending development projects in their respective constituencies. Alongside administrative matters, he urged legislators to take the initiative in establishing Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas.

Shivakumar specifically instructed legislators to monitor the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls to ensure that eligible voters do not face injustice. He also advised them against interfering in the transfer of IAS and IPS officers across administrative departments.

Further instructions were given to legislators regarding local party and welfare matters. They were asked to protect party workers and appoint six members to guarantee committees at the panchayat level. In addition, Shivakumar requested recommendations for suitable individuals to lead the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas and oversee their smooth functioning.

During the deliberations, legislators highlighted several civic and rural concerns, including drinking water shortages, infrastructure demands, housing needs, irrigation works, and other developmental requirements. In response to requests for constituency funding, Shivakumar stated that a final decision on allocating funds would be finalized after holding consultations with senior ministers and departmental officials.
