Court grants anticipatory bail to Capgemini campus daycare abuse accused Manjula

A Bengaluru court on July 9, 2026, granted anticipatory bail to Manjula, the prime accused in a child abuse case at a daycare centre located on the Capgemini campus. Manjula, who worked as a caregiver and supervisor at the facility, had been absconding ever since the First Information Report (FIR) was registered against her.
The case against Manjula, who is named as Accused No. 1, involves alleged cruelty to children under her care. The HAL police registered the FIR after receiving a call on the Child helpline (1098), which alerted authorities to the situation.
Following the complaint, the accused was booked under multiple legal provisions. These include Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which pertains to assault or the use of criminal force.
She was also booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. This section specifically deals with cruelty to children by any person who has actual charge or control over them. Both of the offences carry a maximum punishment of up to three years of imprisonment.
With the court granting her anticipatory bail, the HAL police are now waiting for Manjula to appear before them to complete the required bail formalities. Once she presents herself, investigators plan to conduct formal questioning regarding the allegations.
"The accused has been granted anticipatory bail. We are awaiting her appearance before us for questioning in accordance with the court’s directions," a senior police officer stated.
In addition to the primary abuse allegations, investigators are also probing the circumstances surrounding the leakage of the video that exposed the incident. The HAL police are currently examining the video's circulation to determine whether it was leaked and shared with an ulterior motive.
