CM Shivakumar Announces Grievances Minister to Curb Corruption in Karnataka

On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced the creation of two new secretariats in Bengaluru to strengthen governance, including a dedicated department for public grievances that will be led by a newly appointed minister.

The initiative is designed to check corruption and streamline the resolution of public grievances. Alongside the secretariat for public grievances, the state government will also establish a second secretariat dedicated to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

Under the new plan, a minister will be appointed specifically to oversee public grievances. Citizens facing administrative issues will have their concerns heard at least three times a week. The government will then examine these grievances for their legality and factual basis.

Shivakumar emphasized that officials should not face administrative pressure from any caste or religion. He further stated that officials must not face pressure from his own office, or from the offices of any present or past ministers.

The overall aim of these new secretariats is to ensure a corruption-free government and improve administrative efficiency.
