Child Rights and POCSO Awareness Programme Held for Parents in Kalyan Nagar

An awareness programme focused on child rights and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was organised for parents at the Innovative Research Centre in Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru.

The drive was aimed at educating parents on child rights, safety measures, and the prevention of child sexual abuse. More than 40 parents attended the session held at the centre.

Premakumari, the Kalyan Nagar Ward Member, attended the event and commended the effort to build awareness at the community level. Addressing the gathering, she assured parents that a Ward-Level Children’s Sabha would be facilitated to give children a platform to express their views, voice issues affecting them, and actively participate in community matters.

Child rights activist Nagasimha G Rao addressed the parents, outlining key provisions of the POCSO Act and child protection laws in simple and practical terms. He also highlighted the vital role parents play in safeguarding children and discussed effective reporting mechanisms for abuse and safety violations.
