Celina Jaitly Rejects Defamation Threats From Estranged Husband Peter Haag

On June 5, 2026, actress Celina Jaitly publicly rejected defamation threat legal notices sent by her estranged husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, and her father-in-law, Wolfgang Haag. Jaitly, who has filed for divorce on grounds of domestic violence and cruelty, stated she will not be intimidated into silence regarding her ongoing legal battles spanning India and Austria.

Jaitly revealed she received two new legal notices threatening defamation action. She characterized these notices as an attempt to divert attention from existing police complaints, lookout notices, allegations of violence, and documented evidence currently pending before competent courts and authorities.

In her statement, Jaitly addressed what she described as the selective use of media by the Haag family. She pointed out that publicity involving their family was actively embraced for years, including her husband's participation in magazine covers and interviews, until it no longer suited his interests.

The actress also highlighted her ongoing struggle for the joint custody of her children. Jaitly expressed concerns over the potential removal of her children from their marital residence and the possibility of them being relocated outside the jurisdiction of Indian and Austrian courts without her knowledge or consent.

Reflecting on her personal struggles, Jaitly described experiencing years of pressure, intimidation, and attacks on her rights while living in a remote Austrian village, particularly as a woman who had lost both of her parents. She further accused her 50-year-old estranged husband and his 75-year-old father of coordinating to issue legal threats following the forced transfer of her premarital assets.

Jaitly married Peter Haag in 2010 after stepping away from mainstream Bollywood. The couple welcomed twin boys in 2012, followed by another set of twins in 2017, though one of the infants from the second pregnancy passed away shortly after birth.

Concluding her response, Jaitly stated that she is fighting her case with evidence and expressed full confidence in the judicial systems of both India and Austria.
