CCB Busts R.T. Nagar Gambling Card Rigging Racket, Detains Man

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has busted a racket involved in modifying playing cards with electronic chips to rig games and cheat players, detaining a man from R.T. Nagar in Bengaluru. The suspect, identified as Mohamed Ismail Babu, was allegedly operating from a residence in the locality where he manufactured and altered cards before supplying them to gambling organisers across the State.

The crackdown was initiated following a complaint lodged by Mahadevaiah S., Police Inspector at the CCB Special Enquiry Wing. The CCB team received credible information indicating that Ismail and his associates were conducting their illegal operations from a house situated within the R.T. Nagar police limits.

Upon searching the premises, the CCB team discovered equipment used to modify playing cards by installing electronic chips in them. According to investigators, the altered cards were supplied to organisers conducting gambling activities for the purpose of manipulating game outcomes and cheating members of the public.

Police suspect that the accused functioned as part of an organised network. Investigators stated that gambling operators used these modified decks to lure people into gambling activities and generate illegal profits through rigged games.

The police are currently probing the wider network connected to the operation. The ongoing investigation is focusing on tracing the source of the digital equipment, identifying the persons who purchased the modified cards, and tracking down the gambling organisers who allegedly used them.
