Cab driver arrested after attacking motorist with iron rod near BTM Layout

A cab driver was arrested near Shantinagar after allegedly assaulting a motorist and his friend with an iron rod near BTM Layout in southern Bengaluru on Friday. The violent physical altercation, which also resulted in damage to the motorist's vehicle, reportedly erupted following an argument over honking at a road junction, according to the jurisdictional SG Palya police.
The incident occurred on Friday near BTM Layout, a locality in southern Bengaluru. According to the jurisdictional SG Palya police, the confrontation began after the cab driver pulled over and stopped his vehicle at a road junction. A motorist, who was driving behind the cab and attempting to negotiate a turn at the same junction, honked his horn to alert the stopped cab driver to move his vehicle.
The honking reportedly angered the cab driver. According to the police, the cab driver stepped out of his vehicle while carrying an iron rod. He then allegedly confronted the motorist and his friend, launching a physical assault against both of them. After assaulting the two individuals, the cab driver turned his attention to the motorist's car, using the iron rod to smash the vehicle and cause damage to it.
A video recording of the assault and vandalism incident was captured and subsequently shared on social media platforms. The footage quickly went viral online, drawing the attention of the local police department to the road rage incident.
The jurisdictional SG Palya police stated that they identified the cab driver involved in the incident. While police initially noted that no formal case had been registered immediately after the identification, one suspect was later arrested near Shantinagar in connection with the driver assault case.
