BSRP Signs MoU with ICF Chennai for 51 Three-Car Trainsets

The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the manufacture and supply of 51 rakes comprising three-car trainsets.

The agreement was officially signed at the ICF facility in Chennai on September 1. The signing took place in the presence of K-RIDE/Bi-RIDE Managing Director Lakshman Singh and ICF General Manager Manish Agarwal.

Under the terms of the agreement, the work order covers the complete design, manufacture, inspection, testing, and commissioning of the coaches. The scope also includes obtaining necessary statutory approvals from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), ensuring comprehensive system integration, and adhering to strict Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) requirements.

According to project officials, the procurement of modern rolling stock represents a crucial component of the BSRP. The suburban rail project is designed to establish an efficient and well-integrated suburban railway network connecting Bengaluru with its surrounding areas to ease commuter transit.

Commenting on the development, Managing Director Lakshman Singh stated that the MoU marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the project. He noted that the procurement of modern rolling stock would help strengthen efforts to establish a safe, reliable, and sustainable suburban rail network for the region.
