BSCC Signs MoU to Introduce Smart Parking Across 42 Commercial Roads in Jayanagar

The Bengaluru South City Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with M/s ParkLens India Pvt Ltd to implement a smart parking management system across major commercial stretches in the Jayanagar Assembly constituency.
The civic initiative aims to streamline traffic flow and enhance pedestrian safety across the bustling commercial zones of Jayanagar. The agreement between the municipal corporation and the private firm was signed on Friday following the completion of technical and traffic assessments.
According to Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner KN Ramesh, the Jayanagar constituency encompasses a total network of 1,215 roads spanning 281 kilometres. Following a comprehensive study and formal clearance from the traffic police, authorities identified 42 major commercial roads covering a distance of 31.65 kilometres for the rollout of the smart parking network.
A total of 4,749 designated parking zones will be created across the selected 42 roads. The infrastructure will feature 3,800 dedicated spaces for two-wheelers and more than 900 slots for cars. The plan also includes designated bays for auto-rickshaws, bicycles, and passenger pick-up and drop-off points.
Under the new system, motorists will be able to check real-time parking space availability through a dedicated mobile application, an official website, and digital display boards installed along the corridors. All transactions within the managed zones will operate through cashless payment mechanisms.
To accommodate the needs of local residents living along these commercial corridors, the civic body announced that free parking will be permitted in the designated zones between midnight and 9:00 am.
M/s ParkLens India Private Limited was awarded the project through an open tender process conducted on the Karnataka public procurement portal. The smart parking system will operate under a five-year Public-Private Partnership model.
