BSCC Begins Road Restoration and Asphalting in Munireddy Layout Near Kudlu Gate

Work to restore an encroached cross road and asphalt the main thoroughfare has commenced in Munireddy Layout near Kudlu Gate in Bengaluru. The road restoration project was launched in the presence of Bommanahalli MLA M Satish Reddy, addressing a long-standing civic issue for thousands of citizens residing in paying guest (PG) accommodations in the vicinity.

The development comes after a resident moved the Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Special Court seeking the restoration of the public path. Prior reports from August 22, 2024, detailed how former Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials allegedly issued fake khata certificates to illegally convert the public stretch into private property.

Residents of Munireddy Layout welcomed the intervention by civic authorities and elected representatives. Area resident KM Chandra thanked MLA M Satish Reddy for instructing the Bengaluru South City Corporation (BSCC) engineers to initiate road development, adding that residents are eager for the asphalting process to begin without delay.

Describing the historical plight of commuters, resident Rajiv Krishna Reddy pointed out that the condition of the road had remained poor for many years. He noted that the main road serves as a crucial lifeline for numerous PG residents. During rainy spells, the unpaved surface routinely transformed into a slushy tract, creating significant hazards and walking difficulties for everyday pedestrians.

Civic officials from the Bengaluru South City Corporation confirmed that engineering teams are moving ahead with the roadworks. The BSCC Assistant Executive Engineer stated that active construction work would start shortly and confirmed that the entire project is expected to be completed within a week.
