Body of 20-year-old nursing student found in Marappanapalya terrace room

The semi-decomposed body of Uday, a 20-year-old paramedical student, was found hanging in his terrace room in Marappanapalya on Friday in a suspected case of suicide. The death is believed to have occurred on Wednesday, with preliminary police investigations pointing to financial stress from an online gambling addiction as the suspected cause.

Uday was a second-year paramedical student who also worked part-time at a shoe showroom. He resided in Marappanapalya, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli police station. He lived in a separate room located on the terrace of his family's residence.

According to the police, Uday's parents did not check his terrace room for nearly three days. They told officers that they assumed their son had gone on a trip, which explained his absence.

The situation was discovered on Friday when a neighbor noticed a foul smell emanating from the terrace room. The neighbor alerted Uday's parents, who went to investigate. Upon entering the room, they found Uday's body hanging from a ceiling fan and immediately contacted the local police.

The Madanayakanahalli police arrived at the scene and have since shifted the body for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) regarding the incident.

While the exact reason behind the death is still being investigated, preliminary inquiries by the police suggest that Uday was addicted to online gambling and may have been under significant financial stress.
