BNCC files complaint over overcharging at Hebbal Kempapura crematorium

The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has filed an official complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in Yelahanka against unauthorized websites, intermediaries, and individuals who are collecting excess fees to book funeral service slots. The fraudulent activity has been reported at the Chirashanthidhama electric crematorium located in Hebbal Kempapura.
In addition to the Hebbal Kempapura facility, the BNCC noted that similar unauthorized bookings and overcharging have been occurring at the Muktidhama electric crematorium in Medi Agrahara. Both of these electric crematoriums are operated directly by the BNCC.
The official price for services at these electric crematoriums has been strictly fixed by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). According to the GBA guidelines, the official cremation charge is set at Rs 250. However, unauthorized agents and websites have been exploiting citizens by demanding charges far above this fixed rate.
Following the discovery of these unauthorized activities, the BNCC has issued an appeal to the general public. Citizens are strongly advised not to use any unofficial websites, agents, or intermediaries when booking slots for funeral services. Instead, the corporation has directed the public to exclusively use the official online platforms provided by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to ensure they are charged the correct rate.
A senior electrical engineer from the BNCC confirmed the filing of the cyber crime complaint and urged residents to remain vigilant against these fraudulent booking schemes. The official stated that any suspicious incidents or attempts at overcharging should be reported immediately to either the Bengaluru North City Corporation or the Cyber Crime Police.
