BMRCL Receives First Driverless Metro Train at Byappanahalli Depot

Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has received its first driverless trainset for the upcoming Blue Line corridor on Thursday, marking a major milestone for the city's transit infrastructure. The six-coach train was successfully transported from the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) facility in C.V. Raman Nagar to the Byappanahalli Metro depot.
The arrival of the new rolling stock represents the introduction of Bengaluru's first automated, driverless metro transit system. The train has been specifically designed for unattended train operations and is equipped with modern automation systems, making it one of the most advanced additions to the Namma Metro network.
The Blue Line corridor is an airport-bound metro project, and this new trainset is intended to serve that connection. The delivery from the C.V. Raman Nagar facility to the Byappanahalli Metro depot is a key step in preparing the line for future operations.
