BMRCL Inducts 15th Trainset on Yellow Line Connecting R.V. Road to Bommasandra

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has inducted the final trainset on Namma Metro's Yellow Line into commercial service, completing the corridor's full fleet of 15 trainsets along the 19.75-km route connecting R.V. Road and Bommasandra.

The final six-coach train, supplied by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. (TRSL), was inducted on Saturday nearly a year after the inauguration of the Yellow Line. With the entire fleet now operational, BMRCL has begun running trains at a peak-hour frequency of six minutes along the line.

Manufactured at TRSL’s production facility near Kolkata, the final trainset arrived at the Hebbagodi depot at the end of July. It underwent mandatory testing and safety inspections over the subsequent weeks before receiving clearance for passenger service.

A BMRCL official stated that having the full fleet available would significantly improve operational reliability and help accommodate the growing passenger demand across the corridor.

Under the operational plan, 13 of the 15 trainsets are designated for daily passenger runs, while the remaining two sets will be kept on standby as reserve stock. The reserve trains are intended to maintain uninterrupted service during scheduled maintenance routines, emergencies, and unexpected technical glitches.

With deliveries for the Yellow Line completed, TRSL will turn its attention to the production and supply of 18 additional trainsets for Namma Metro's Purple and Green lines under a separate contract.
