Biker Escapes After Tanker Crushes Motorcycle in Gunjur Pothole Incident

A motorcyclist had a narrow escape in Bengaluru's Gunjur area after his two-wheeler fell into a rainwater-filled pothole and was run over by a tanker trailing behind him.

The rider, identified as Saurabh, an employee with Walmart in Bengaluru, was riding along the waterlogged stretch when his motorcycle abruptly plunged into a pothole. As he lost control and fell, a tanker approaching from behind failed to notice the rider and ran over the fallen motorcycle.

Saurabh managed to let go of the two-wheeler and scramble clear of the tanker's path just in time, escaping without physical injuries. The tanker driver did not stop immediately after the impact and continued driving away from the scene.

Commuters in the area pursued the vehicle and intercepted it approximately 200 metres from the spot of the accident. When the driver was questioned, he was found to be operating the vehicle without a driving licence. The tanker was also missing its registration number plate. According to witnesses, the driver claimed he had only recently started learning how to drive. A formal complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident.

Vidyasagar, a commuter who witnessed and recorded the incident, stated that the road has been in a severely degraded condition for the past six to eight months. He noted that he travels along the stretch about four days a week and decided to film the road conditions to highlight the danger of the deep potholes and severe waterlogging.

Vidyasagar also said that repeated complaints to authorities, including emails and social media appeals directed to the local MLA and the Chief Minister, had resulted in no remedial action being taken to fix the road.
