Benson Town Residents Flag Unattended Garbage on Binny Crescent

Residents living along Binny Crescent in Bengaluru's Benson Town have raised strong concerns over the lack of regular civic cleaning and sanitation on a stretch near 16/5 Binny Crescent in Jayamahal Ward. Despite a formal grievance lodged months ago, locals reported that municipal sanitation workers have not been visiting the stretch as required, leaving waste to pile up continuously.

A formal complaint regarding the neglected stretch was submitted to the Assistant Executive Engineer and Health Inspector of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on May 28. The complaint highlighted that the road had gone without routine cleaning for several days. However, months after the issue was formally brought to the attention of civic officials, residents stated that the situation on the ground remains entirely unchanged.

According to the complaint, garbage has accumulated in significant quantities along the road, creating unhygienic conditions accompanied by foul odours. Residents noted that the neglected stretch poses an ongoing inconvenience to pedestrians navigating the area as well as to those living in the immediate vicinity.

Local resident Saorj Bagaria highlighted the serious health implications linked to the uncleared waste, pointing out that the dumping site creates a fertile breeding ground for mosquitoes and draws stray animals to the neighbourhood. Despite regular observations and concerns voiced by community members, the road has continued to stay dirty and unattended.

The civic problems along the stretch have been further compounded by the unauthorised dumping of construction materials. Residents reported that cement bricks, jelly, and other building debris have been discarded onto the road, further obstructing pedestrian and vehicular movement while worsening the physical condition of the residential lane.

Neighbourhood residents have urged the civic authorities to intervene promptly by arranging an immediate clean-up of Binny Crescent. The complaint called on the BBMP to ensure consistent road sweeping, waste collection, and sanitation maintenance, alongside stricter monitoring of sanitation personnel so that the issue does not recur in the future.
