Bengaluru West City Corporation Orders Crackdown On Errant Bulk Waste Generators

The Bengaluru West City Corporation (BWCC) has ordered a strict crackdown on errant bulk waste generators (BWGs) and unauthorized garbage vendors within the Bengaluru West limits. BWCC Commissioner KV Rajendra directed civic officials to take immediate action against entities that fail to systematically manage their solid waste or hand it over to authorized agencies.
The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Rajendra, which was attended by BWGs, Assistant General Managers (AGMs) of the corporation’s Solid Waste Management Division, and Marshals. The meeting focused on addressing gaps in solid waste management across the zone.
According to official data, there are 1,552 registered bulk waste generators within the Bengaluru West corporation limits, out of a total of 6,000 BWGs operating across the entire city of Bengaluru. Commissioner Rajendra stated that these bulk generators are required to process as much waste as possible within their own premises and use it as a resource.
For bulk generators unable to process waste on-site due to valid reasons, the corporation requires them to hand over the waste to designated authorized waste management agencies or to Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML). An official from BSWML confirmed that two specific agencies have been designated to handle waste within the West Corporation jurisdiction: Material Solutions for Green Planet (MSGP) and Swaccha Eco Solutions.
To enforce these guidelines, Commissioner Rajendra directed AGMs of the Solid Waste Management Division, Junior Health Inspectors (JHIs), and Marshals to identify non-compliant BWGs operating outside the legal framework. The commissioner also called upon Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) to assist the civic body by providing information on errant waste generators in their neighbourhoods.
Additionally, the corporation reiterated that registration with the Central Pollution Control Board is mandatory for all bulk waste generators. Strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the waste management rules or continue to utilize unauthorized garbage vendors.
